Poetic-Verses

'' We Can Set Our Souls Free ''

In this life we are born to survive,
When we arrive we know nothing about Gods,
Our only aim is to remain alive,
Though to remain Godless is against all odds.

From cradle to grave we're taught fantasy tales,
Some good while others are bad,
The ones about deities are thin on details,
Some make you wonder if you're being had.

Religious leaders tell us how we must live,
With promises of redemption from sin,
The crimes of the evil they tell us to forgive,
Is this just all part of their spin?

While they live in splendour without a care,
The majority of us struggle to get by,
No God would allow something so unfair,
Could it be the whole thing is a lie?

We are brainwashed from birth that God does exist,
Every religion has one that's supreme,
They follow us around they're forever in our midst,
Eternal life with a God is their dream.

Gods forbid us to kill but we do not obey,
His details are thin on the ground,
Humans are primed to cause all others affray,
We have more than enough hatred to go round.

Gods get the credit when all is going well,
But he is blameless when things go wrong,
If you blaspheme you'll be sent straight to Hell,
Your agony a God will prolong.

A God seeking revenge is both evil and cruel,
I find as a concept it's too hard to believe,
An entity that no human can overrule,
Who can sit back while his subjects grieve?

Wars and disputes being fought in his name,
Mass murder being classed as defence,
The victor then claims the fortune and fame,
Claiming their Gods input was immense.

The losers who also believe in Gods will,
Pray despite the fact they have lost,
Thanking him for losing must be a bitter pill,
As total defeat was their final cost.

If we spent more time loving each other,
Instead of searching for what we can't see,
Only when our hatred we begin to smother,
Maybe then,
