From the Heart Through the Pen

yosph
Good company is better than good sex
In her life right now
I'm just a guest
Can't lie and say she doesn't invade my thoughts
Especially when my jewels catch hers
I'm convinced we both get lost
But the coals she tries to extinguish
While she steady feeds the fire
Her lips told me her hearts desire
Yet no words came forth
Although I like offense
I put the ball in her court
I could foresee the beauty
That was about to blossom
But it couldn't be if she had no faith in me
Now that she has the ball
She threw it in the gutter
She's got me fooled for the wrong kind of player
Story of my life...go figure
In an attempt to plead my case
I lost my rightful place
Let her slip away with ease
I know she'll be back
But I should've taken that last taste
Silly me blamed it on bad timing
Instead of taking advantage
Of the opportunity given
She said she'd teach me to swim
Cause in the water I imitate rocks
I can actually make out good
At least float my way to the top
So I took her up on the deal
Who knew it'd be like this when we crossed paths
Still smiling at silly things
Like how her hands laugh
