Penciled Thoughts

The darkness of the loneliness

makes me quite aware.

Of all the times I looked for help

and found nobody there.

The colors of my yesterdays

blend and blur with time.

Makes me forget the memories

of all that once was mine.

Falling strands of sunbeams

burn furrows in the ground.

Taking back the tears I shed

into the dreams I've found.

Nothing making senses to me

as I scrabble to survive.

Is this nightmare taking hold

or will I be found alive?

I can't take it no longer

this hell that's killing me.

I take flight from this cage

at last I be truly free.

I struggle from my desk chair

I've finally made the door.

I take flight climbing so high

freedom to return no more
