Thousands of stars paint the skies;
Mere brushes for the moon above.
Beauty found in an Angel's eyes,
Never dimming passion of Eternal love.
God saith: "forget her as love unborne!'
For in your unmirrored heart lays a fool.
This especial Star for whom you mourne,
has fallen from the skies in dazzling hues.
For to thy Earth I take in glowing flames;
I leave behind others to take her space
Yet I say Dear lord,
"There is no one that can take her place!"
*This quite frankly would be the first poem
That I ever wrote at Mom's funeral
Several years later in Writer's Magazine
May 1982 I was given honorable mention for this poem
