In Loving Memory
In Loving Memory
Dad,
Though you're gone
You're not forgotten
I had a dream about you
It was the end of August
In the dream you were very young
A peacefulness cradled you
Like drifting on soft, fluffy, pillow clouds
Love flowed through you
There was a bright, glowing, radiant, light
A gentleness covered you
There was an airy light feeling
The dream made me feel
Happy, safe, and sound
I knew everything would be alright
As I remember you
I want you to know
I miss you
It's the little things I miss the most
The little things you used to say
The way you said my name
It was often and affectionately that you would call me Jan Jan
You were always asking me, "how are things going in the big city?"
I miss your boisterous hearty laugh
Your smile wider than the deepest ocean
Your self-confidence in yourself
You passed on to me when I didn't think I had it
The way you surprised me by slipping money in my hand
You would simply say, "buy something nice for yourself"
I miss your warm words of wisdom
I miss your advice, attention, and guidance
The first day of November
I'll always remember
You slipped away quietly in your sleep
Leaving the hospital room, I knew things would never be the same
I think of you often
I know I'm blessed
The first day of November
I lit a candle in your memory
You are in my heart
There I'll carry you always
The month of November is coming to an end
Love you always dad
May you rest in eternal peace
