Happy Father's Day

Photobucket

Although you are not here
I feel your presence near
We removed so many of your things
Yet, your spirit forever clings
We can never erase traces of you
Sometimes this makes me feel blue
By now you would be planting seeds
Tending your gardens, pulling weeds
Your love of the ocean, fishing, the quilt with the ships
I made for you from fabric cut in strips
Thinking back on my childhood days
Your love unfolds in so many ways
There was nothing that you could not do
If something broke you would fix it like new
I could always count on you to come through
Nothing was ever too much for you
The little things you used to say
I can hear your voice loud and clear repeating them to this day
In the front yard a tree I can still see the swing
You made me feel like I had wings
Like the tree big, strong, and tall
You my dear father I knew I would never fall
Now you are among the angels on high
Rest in peace for it's never good-bye

With Love, Happy Father's Day!

We stitch together quilts of meaning to keep us warm and safe, with whatever patches of beauty and utility we have on hand.
