Remember the word I gave you,
For giving hope completely through;
It may seem like a mystery,
This gives comfort in misery.
Such a promise of a new life,
Within the midst of all the strife;
Arrogant people still have mocked,
Everywhere that I have talked.
Yet I still have not turned away,
Letting myself go astray;
Remembering all I was taught,
Pray to the Lord what I have sought.
I remembered long ago His Law,
And how He had removed each flaw;
No longer found comfort in them,
Nearly as though used to condemn.
I was burning with anger for,
Wicked people how they would lure;
Tempting me away from the light,
To go play around in the night.
But His laws have become my song,
The tunes continue to prolong;
Just like the birds up in the air,
And singing the songs that they share.
At night I remember His name,
During the day what I proclaim;
For I am a foreigner here,
And I always want the Lord near.
He is more than God but a friend,
Who is with me that will defend;
And will smite those who will afflict,
Judgment with a wrongful verdict.
