THE STORY OF MARKY HASNOCHANCE

If anyone should read this forgive me.It is a fictional
copulation of people I have known. Marky, Marty the name
has been changed. But the real boy was a young boy on my
Little League team. He loved baseball and had no family
support. Both parents alcoholic. Never came to watch him
play. He pitched two no hitters in little league and went
on to play Junior college ball but had no means of support.
I as coach sponsored his play in little league. I considered
him to be the best player I ever coached. Year later I ran
into one of my players. I assumed Marty would play professional
baseball. So I asked, "What ever became of Marty?" "Don't you
know coach? He is serving five years in prison." "For what"
He had no money no family support. He was living on the streets.
He didn't use drugs. But he was selling them to pay for his
college education. By the time I knew it was too late to help
Marty. If I get response I well tell the story of the real
bachelor. He too was in my past and misunderstood.

Now Marky only wanted one thing in life
His heroes were Ted Williams and Stan Musial
He wasn't very smart--maybe really dumb
Marty would say hello to everyone
And so simple of thought they found him weird
Little Jeffery Weiner teased him as being gay
In his early thirties Weiner died one day
All his family said it was pneumonia
Anyway this is about baseball and Little league
Marty could hit harder than any boy in the neighborhood
He surely did not throw like a girl like Jeffery
But to play baseball he needed an entrance fee
Asking Mom and Dad so poor was not to be
Marty he picked wild blackberries sold them door to door
No one would go in the bachelors yard too dangerous to explore
But there he stood a gentle giant holding a dollar
A dollar was just what Marky needed for playing baseball
And the bachelor said a strange thing, "Play for Tommy!"
For you see Tommy loved baseball so play for Tommy
And Mom told Marky the story long forgot about the bachelor
Whose wife and son died in an auto accident long ago
And the reason he talked to no one so few today did know
Marky was off to play baseball he had that glow
First thing Marky found out coach's son plays pitcher and short
His best friend Jeffery who could not throw plays third and pitcher
Frankly it went like that until Marky had few places to go
But none of those boys were good enough to catch
So this is where Marky would play until a new team a new coach
The problem was his son played catcher even though he could not catch
So the outfield was where all the kids without father's coaches played
Soon the outfield was filled with players and Marky could not play
But he still had his bat he could hit the ball
The new coaching assistant son was Alan and he played outfield
His mom was the official scorekeeper her rules were simple
Her son hit a ball and someone dropped it it was a hit
If he got to third before the player got back it was a triple
Marty hit the same ball it was an error and did not count as hit
Soon Alan was leading the league in hitting and his two best friends
They too wanted to play in the outfield and Marty would play first
Only a new player joined the team and he was left handed
Now a lefthander is a choice position for a left hander if --
Your dad is willing to be an umpire it was years until Marty played again
He was now Prisoner 13457 and he played for Mason Prison convicts
But shortly after wards was kicked off the team for stealing second.
If this sounds bazaar trying making shortstop if the kids dad is coach
