LITTLEST ANGEL PART TWO

The story of the littlest Angel is all through my poetry. It is the shortest love story
of all times. It lasted less than three hours in time and forever in heart. I was eleven
the littlest Angel was five. We met in San Francisco. So to preface the story. My father
the last time we saw him had beaten Mom. I challenged him to fight a man. I was not a man
I was a boy. I had been in a coma with Mom on the ambulance ride to the hospital. I had a
crushed vertebrae thrown like a rag doll against the wall. When he left I was sure it would
be the last I would see of the monster. Mom had to have at least one time loved him. I never
acquired that love. After the beatings Mom could take his abuse but not beating me. She filed
for divorce he disappeared. Only to reappear bearing gifts. I was too young to know the whole
story. But putting the puzzle together I assume he was given jail time.

While in Jail his parents died. There was a will. From what I was told he was given an choice.
Take an alcoholism cure or be left out of the will. He came to Mom a sober man with promises.
He bought me a bike, baseball glove and came to games and umpired. He was a changed man. I
hated him and continued to lift weights. For the first time we had a car not a ten ton coal
truck. He brought Mom's house payments up to date and he was taking us to Knox Berry farm.
This of course before Disneyland. Six of us in one car. I slept on the back window near the
exhaust. I was sick all the way to California. I just remember Mom yelling out, "That's it,
that's the house." We were on the west end of the famous Lombard street San Francisco. Mom
explained this was where her half sister lived. Where she had been adopted as a teenager.
This was how I met the littlest Angel.

The littlest Angel was Shirley Temple come to life only Blondie. She sat on my lap and I read
her stories some I made up and some of my earliest children stories. Sis and I loved her
to death. After an hour or so we could hear arguing in the next room. My father was a pacifist.
I refer to it as being a coward at six nine and monster size. He could fight women and children.
The cure lasted two weeks and he was back to drinking. We were told to leave and never come
back. Mom and her friend were crying. Grandpa strong armed my father to the car. I never saw
the Littiest Angel again until, "life After death". It is in my poetry. The last I heard from
the liltiest Angel she was crying, "I love you Dandy. I well see you in heaven."

It was two months later Dad was history Mom was coming from the mailbox. She had tears in
her eyes. She said, "Dandy I didn't tell you this. The reason we stopped in San Francisco
was to support my adopted sister. The little girl you called, "Golden-locks", that was not
her real hair it was a wig. She was dying of leukemia. This is to tell us she died. I have tears
in my eyes writing this. She also said when she grew up she wanted to marry me.
