When i was at school, i hated history

So when i was 16, i joined the army

I met a girl called Lucy, playing pool

In an Army barracks based in Kabul

We both had a passion to fight over sea

And joined the Army to kill the Iraqi

Lucy got pregnant and on maternity

And moved my new family

Back home to London, to Battersea

I kept a picture in my pocket of me and Lucy

And soon i was fighting a different enemy

My heart no longer in it, bored of the War

I told my superior this was my final Tour

I counted down the days, till i'd see my family

Looking at my picture of me and Lucy

I was counting down the days, till i'd be free

I was now in single fingers, only another 3

Then as luck would have it, well mine especially

On a routine mission, i got shot in the knee

I felt the pain in my leg, but more so in my side

Another bullet hit me and the pain would not subside

I felt a coldness come over me,

And the photo in my wallet of me and Lucy

Was soon soaking in blood, and i heard her say

I love you my sweet darling, I'll see you some day

As i lay there on the dirt, the sky looking down on me

The last thing I saw, was the photo of me and Lucy.
