 Ordinary As Can Be

Notoriety, high society...no, not for me.
Not that I qualify, but I hope I never do.
Ordinary is all I ever strove to be.
I've succeeded well, much more so than you....

No center stage, no front page, just anonymity.
I have a million things to do all by myself.
No cause for me to suffer any degree of enmity
From society. I'm only a book upon a dusty shelf..

I stare in amazement at many a gifted celebrity
Some are so incredibly talented it blows my mind.
Are they born this way or must they learn to be?
Rather than a performer, I'm more the onlooker kind....

I have nothing but admiration for artists and art.
Colors become people and places, queens and kings.
I won't dare speak for others but as for my own part,
I will continue to enjoy the show from the wings.....
