outside falls the rain
cooing
cat noise
I am protected
and protective.
snoring
soothing man noise
I am warmed
safely and
in love.
wee noise
familiar noise
small reassurances
in the scattered
dark.
awakened by
branches
tapping
the window and by
a startled
fluttering
of my heart.
my senses
re-calibrate
the room as
the rose of dawn
tints the walls
in soft watercolor hues.
the storm has
moved on past now.
outside
falls the
rain.
