Poetic-Verses

'' We Wear The Poppy With Pride ''

A century ago as the war begins,
We're about to witness some barbaric sins,
The problem with war is nobody wins,
Common sense is rarely applied.

The men in suits who instigate war,
Lay claim that violence they abhor,
Yet none of them stop and ask, what for,
We must adhere to what they decide.

Statesmen and generals agree we must fight,
Without even knowing who's wrong or right,
Reality to them is way out of sight,
They're the cause of this great divide.

Young men and women condemned to die,
Innocents shot as cowards for refusing to comply,
The shell-shocked can hear the battle cry,
But they have nowhere left to hide.

As millions die on the battlefield,
The men in suits refuse to yield,
They love that feeling of power they yield,
Mass genocide is forever denied.

Into their own world the instigators submerge,
When the conflict is over the victors emerge,
As on to the rostrum these parasites converge,
Over murder they'll forever preside.

‘' WE WON ‘' is what they are then heard to say,
Despite the fact they stayed out of the way,
Yet they all live to fight another day?
The reason, they are cowardly and snide.

By all means remember those who were lost,
In our hearts and minds they're forever embossed,
What we must never forget is the human cost,
Their efforts we must never deride.

Though their sacrifice we will never forget,
Bereaved friends and relatives are filled with regret,
Our cowardly politicians are our biggest threat,
In these conflicts very few of them died.

On Remembrance Sunday each and every year,
For our fallen heroes we will shed a tear,
To the instigators we must make it clear,
It's for our forces,
