'' Our Differences We Could Repair ''

You taught me your version of right and wrong,
I always felt this is where I belong
So why didn't I listen was I too headstrong,
You claimed I just didn't care.

Like goodness evil is something you must learn,
Can you blame others for being too stern?
Why others respect do we need to earn,
Personally I don't think life is fair.

Don't drink alcohol or take illegal drugs,
So why do you take them if they're just for mugs,
It does make us wonder who are the thugs,
Yet you think you are so debonair.

Why the hell endow you with a mind of your own,
Then tell you to our rules you must atone,
Your ability to use it others will bemoan,
It's like being tied up in a snare.

In my early years my abilities were quelled,
To obey without question I was compelled,
Perhaps that's the reason I finally rebelled,
My opinions I was forced to bare.

After expressing my feelings I was cast to the side,
From life in the main I was forced to hide,
Adult hypocrisy creates a great divide,
For no future I was forced to prepare.

Decisions against me were nothing but farce,
If truth be told their evidence was sparse,
To those who decided I was a pain in the arse,
You left me without a prayer.

All I wanted was to be treated with respect,
With my ideals they could not connect,
Everything said or done was incorrect,
I was in a state of disrepair.

Don't do as I do you must do as I say,
That's the main cause of our generations affray,
Unless you deal with it, it won't go away.
Admit the truth if you dare.

We're going to be different don't pretend you're aghast,
You must also remember feeling harassed,
Have you conveniently buried your rebellious past?
That left you feeling total despair.

By allowing our age group the rights of free speech,
Our conflict we could place way out of reach,
If only you would practise what you preach.
