Poetic-Verses

'' You Would Not Do The Same ''

We condemn the rich for having what we want,
As they sail away in their yacht for a jaunt,
It disgraceful the way their riches they flaunt,
For our problems they get the blame.

A life of luxury and pleasure without a care,
Never knowing the meaning of despair
To us on the outside it doesn't seem fair,
It's an injustice is what we proclaim.

They never suffer the effects of recession,
Their lavish lifestyles give us depression,
Just watching them fills us up with aggression,
We leave them without a name.

While we suffer they are living the dream,
We lick the dregs while they sip the cream,
It's truly enough to make us all scream,
Our view of them they will disclaim.

Ninety million pounds paid for a painting,
When the gavel went down people were fainting,
It's the buyers reputation we're tainting,
By placing them in the frame.

Lavish adornments on their luxury trellis,
Lead us to say they are over zealous,
While they're thinking we're just jealous,
Our ire is what they inflame.

Could it be that what they're thinking is true,
As what they flaunt we'd all love to accrue,
If you had their riches what would you do?
Does the very thought fill you with shame?

Nor more fears about poverty or debt,
Creditors no longer seen as a threat,
Living life without playing Russian roulette,
That very lifestyle you love to defame.

If given the chance would you honestly say no,
Or would your true colours then go on show,
The chance of their lifestyle can you say you'd forego,
Or would you give in to fortune and fame.

Though we complain it's what most of us desire,
The thought of that lifestyle does light our fire,
If their millionaire ways you could acquire,
Can you promise?
