Who can know truth? Just who can you believe?
Is truth an unattainable bad dream?
Is a scientist’s knowledge absolute?
Or a preacher’s wisdom ultimate truth?
Is philosophy just a point of view,
Maybe greater than God’s revelation?
Is a political promise just words?
Or a used car dealer’s words a promise?
Is your closest friend your source of wisdom?
Or does wisdom visit out of the blue?
Is there more certainty than death and tax?
Maybe deception and lies dressed as truth?
The Lord God is the source of all wisdom,
His promises are noteworthy and true.
What He says He accomplishes always,
Both truth and wisdom are found in our God.
He is not a god created by us;
But we are people created by God.
God told us death was certain for us all,
Plus Jesus’ return to rule and to reign,
These are as certain as night follows day.
Can the philosopher, politician,
Preacher, or scientist outwit our God?
It’s most unwise to say there is no God.
Ribbons do not conceal the greatest gift,
Nor coloured wrapping paper hide from us,
The truth ancient shepherds heard from on high,
Great joy, the Messiah is born close by,
Wrapped and laying in a stable’s manger,
Waiting for their response to God’s message.
The Christ of Christmas brings us more than joy,
Providing certain salvation to all,
To all that have learned that we all have sinned,
And trust in Jesus to honour his word.
