The night falls on another year, As the new one prepares to dawn; The unknown one maybe did fear, For the old year has been long gone. The year seems to go by too fast, It just seems like it spreads its wings; Like an eagle the shadows cast, Swooping to the ground for cravings. The same for our desires, We crave for earthly pleasures; Everything one acquires, Will become their earthly treasures. But sometime our night may gloam, And our new life will then dawn; Far away from where we did roam, The earthly treasures will be gone. Years have come as years will go, As we continue this journey; Death will suddenly stop the flow, Being rolled out on a gurney. Standing before God and the Son, See if you confess and believe; Sacrificed for what you have done, Before heavenly wealth receive. So it is up to you this year, With everything that you will do; Since you know the end maybe near, As well as all that you construe. Copyright ©2013 Richard Newton Sherrer Vote for this poem
