In His pre-earthy existence
When He performed as simply God…
Before the Incarnation…
Before His feet touched on this sod…
He existed in the shadow
Of the Cross He knew He’d bear.
It was always His agenda,
But it was love that took Him there.
Before the earth’s foundation…
Before His journey would begin…
He foresaw His destination
Yet chose to free mankind from sin.
Picture Him as just a youngster
Seated in His father’s shop…
Maybe playing in the shavings
Of the wood destined to drop.
Could He have played with nails?
Held them in His little hands?
Was He, in childhood innocence,
Aware of His Fathers’ plans?
There is so much we don’t know…
Things steeped in Godly mystery.
But of this we can be sure…
He came to die for you and me.
For God so loved the world
That He sent His Only Son
Who became the Son of man
To do what He knew must be done.
The Cross still spreads a shadow
That overshadows mankind’s fall…
And only in this shadow
Can salvation come to all!

John 1:1-5
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him
was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and
the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only
begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 2:19-22
Jesus answered and said unto them,
Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was
this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
But he spake of the temple of his body.
When therefore he was risen from the dead,
his disciples remembered that he had said this
unto them; and they believed the scripture,
and the word which Jesus had said.
Galatians 6:14
But God forbid that I should glory,
except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom the world is crucified unto me,
and I unto the world.
