Forgive these callous hands of mine
The senseless acts and wasted time
That drove away the spark in you
Away from one whom you outgrew
Tried to work some things back then
It broke your heart and made us friends
To understand that one can hold
A heart as yours by mine grown old
Yet in absence of you this day
I still dream of and often pray
That you are well and love keeps you
Happy as once as I did too
There are reasons we fall at times
Hard to explain this walked love line
Throws curves and down and outs to some
Someone like you or me the one
Yet held is heart of yours once mine
Imagined in these hands at times
As sought is peace this very day
This thought that keeps shared yesterdays
Holding Your Heart
