It’s been said heroes today Are very hard to find… Very few can measure up To what the word defines.
I don’t know…this may be true But has no effect on me… For although he’s gone my hero was And will always be E.T.
No, he was no Captain Marvel... Wore no crusading cape… But once he had you in his grip Well, you could not escape.
Captured when merely a child By his distinctive voice… I was enslaved for many years But entirely by choice.
Yet it wasn’t just his music That kept me so enchanted… Although I’d heard the women scream And watched as a few fainted.
It wasn’t his rugged good looks Or the magic in his smile. It was the way he took the time To befriend a little child.
He made me feel so special… He was so sweet…so kind… And in my eyes this is the way True heroes are defined.
The first man I have ever loved… The first I ever kissed… Other than my father and He always will be missed.
Had he lived we’d celebrate The past one hundred years… But Happy Birthday Ernest… I hope you'll forgive my tears.
Lovingly Presented, Doris Jacobs-Covington February 9. 2014
~~Dedicated to all E.T. fans, family, and friends…and especially to his wonderful
daughter, Erlene.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you
Me and ET
~~Author's Note~~ The beautiful graphics and gifs used on this page were lovingly designed and created by my son, Terry. Like me, my children grew up with E.T and knew the wonderful man described in this poem. The song "Waltz Across Texas" was
always dedicated to me in the countless ET concerts I
attended and remains a big favorite of mine. I was...
am....and will always be an Ernest Tubb fan. Please
watch the short animated caricature of Walking The
Floor Over You where Terry's got me "starring" with my
hero...my childhood dream came true...I'm in the movies
with ET. (lol) My son is very talented and he spent many
hours preparing these things to honor ET on what would
have been his 100th birthday.
Please wait until "Waltz Across Texas" hs finished before playing this.
