feeling lousy and low-brow

what do you do
when you tire of being
you?

what oh what the what
do you do?

old identity was the
nice girl
kissing clever to give in
easier to compromise oneself
than to argue
dropping the bottle when
its your turn to spin.

what's the use.
no papoose.
no career.
no marriage vows.
no title nor entitlement.
no sexual property.
the milks been drunk
and here's the
abandoned cow.

you milk-toast the days
with feigned ability
talking with words written
to the computer
like she was your last
confidante

the truth is ragged,
in your youth you never bragged
but if only you'd swaggered a bit,
would you be still standing
proud or
waiting for
that next cuffing hit?

You be the one to guess.
