Little Cat cries

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
you promised
yes you did
I heard you I heard you

Little Cat cries
the one so despised

she's covered in flea sores
and bagged up like bones
she's hidden
been hiding
deciding
she might be
better off dead
but yet
Little Cat cries

Little Cat cries
at the door in the dark
police woman knocks
is she yours
but you balk

little leg bitten
nearly in half
almost in two
Little Cat cries
her crying
making gnarled halves up
of you

Little Cat
touch me not
but your heart bleeds me so
Little Cat
piteously mewling
your tears overflow
for
Little Cat

Who is she
who is Little Cat
who comes in your dreams

Little Cat piteous
needing attention and
love's beam
the warmth of a blanket
the touch of a hand
the faith in tomorrow
a home would be grand

Who is the Little Cat
that lives in each one of us
she is the lost
but the one who
will not trust

and she is the one
who will not be found.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have had a series of disturbing dreams which are
filled with strong emotions, mostly of brooding, betrayal
and sadness about stray (often maimed, flea-bitten, neglected, starving) cats.
This is my theory about what the dreams might mean.
