Open your ears unto my prayer,
As I say these words that I share;
Please do not hide upon my plea,
For I need You to assist me.
Pay attention and answer me,
The trouble that it seems to be;
My restless thoughts make me confused,
And I feel battered and abused.
My enemy just wants to shout,
Making me to hold lots of doubt;
As the wicked persecute me,
My body has scars that you see.
Misery has come crashing down,
Into the lake I nearly drown;
They attack me out of anger,
Sinful language that is vulgar.
My heart is filled with agony,
Terrors of death are seizing me;
Fear and trembling do overwhelm,
I can no longer take the helm.
If only I had eagle wings,
Then I could see what soaring brings;
I would fly away do my best,
To find a safe place I could rest.
Indeed, I could then fly away,
A safe haven that I could stay;
Off to some far and distant land,
With a beach and some nice warm sand.
I would hurry in getting there,
Peace and tranquility and where;
I could have shelter from a storm,
With raging wind and rain might swarm.
