Poetic-Verses

'' You'll Be Liked Even Less ''

If you're writing poetry to gain recognition,
I will make a full and frank admission,
You're unlikely to get past the first audition,
All you'll do is cause yourself stress.

When you try to sell your latest edition,
You'll find there is so much competition,
No one wants to hear your rendition,
Your work some will try to suppress.

In certain areas they erect a partition,
Saying to write you require permission,
Your masterpiece will be facing abolition,
In case it becomes a success.

They'll use your writings as ammunition,
By saying it's an unfit composition,
Why? It doesn't fit in with their tradition,
They'll claim you show no finesse.

When you ask to display in their exhibition,
You'll face the Spanish Inquisition,
Your work they will try to recondition,
Leaving it in a terrible mess.

It will be like a form of prohibition,
From critique there'll be no inhibition,
Your efforts to succeed will become repetition,
It will make you want to transgress.

They're like a secret society on a war of attrition,
The last thing they want is a talented addition,
To keep you out is their life's mission,
Their negativity does cause distress.

Are they better than you, no you're opposition,
Therefore your work will face disposition,
None know the meaning of the word contrition,
If you're good,
