I Don't Do Mardi Gras
It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature
Quotes a bygone TV ad.
Well it’s not nice to fool a friend
Or to break the trust they had.
No matter what the circumstance…
Honesty is still the key.
And friendships are still built on trust
Or at least they are to me.
I have never worn two faces…
Never hid behind a mask…
But doing so must take great strength
Because it seems like such a task.
Well, what you see is what you get
When you encounter me…
Because I am just who I am
And that’s who I’ll always be!
For Heaven’s sake, please live in truth…
Only devils live in lies.
And don’t you know that God can see
Right through that fool disguise.
Yes, I know that this is Mardi Gras…
But it's not the Twilight Zone.
So please be real with God and me
Don't put that darned mask on.

Matthew 7:16
You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered
from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again
by a yoke of slavery.
