'' Let's Just Fight Fire With Fire ''

Wars are like everything else in life,
Instigated by incompetent fools
A terrorist can cut your throat with a knife,
But you must abide by the rules.

Guidelines for killing I hear you all ask,
How can that possibly be,
Only those who obey them can be taken to task,
They're not allowed to cause a melee.

The rules state you must wear a uniform,
To pronounce just who you are,
Your enemies can then cause a storm,
Dressed in civvies is that not bizarre.

When they shoot us down or blow us to bits,
It rarely ever merits a mention.
But if our enemies we then blitz,
We're in breach of the Geneva Convention?

While we must abide by the rules of war,
The fact is our enemies don't,
Regulation is what they abhor,
We follow rules while they say we won't.

They can use chemicals or even germs,
With illegal weapons they are endowed,
They do not believe in what we call terms,
There's nothing that they're not allowed.

When we are under an armed attack,
To respond we must get permission,
Tough luck if our superiors don't get back,
Us dying they'd say is our mission.

If we kill them it must be justified,
No wonder the enemy laugh in our face,
It means nothing to them that we have died,
But for them we put an inquiry in place.

For killing our enemies we can be jailed,
While they're allowed to walk away,
When they murder us their actions are hailed,
They live to fight another day.

I think it's time we faced the truth,
It's their tactics we need to acquire,
The rules of war are so uncouth,
