Poetic-Verses

'' Tomorrow You May Still Be Here ''

When young you think life goes on forever,
You believe you can do what you like,
Your view of living nothing can sever,
It's as easy as riding a bike.

When you mature you start to smoke,
From the dangers you think you're immune,
The initial threat is it makes you choke,
But that will disappear soon.

The damage it's doing you know nothing about,
Because you are young and fit,
But let me tell you without any doubt,
It's destroying your insides bit by bit.

It's the same with drinking you think you can binge,
Without any effect on your health,
Very soon thereafter it will make you cringe,
Believe me it destroys you by stealth.

That hangover you coped with for a couple of days,
Starts to interfere with your work,
Instead of just going that sick feeling stays,
Your behaviour becomes that of a Jerk.

You experiment with drugs you won't be addicted,
Soon you are trying to break free,
With dependency you become afflicted,
Because the dangers you refused to see.

Just one single hit is all that it takes,
To force that final breath,
There are no ‘' SAFE ‘' drugs the dealers are fakes,
They don't care if you meet your death.

I've witnessed many sorry deaths by drugs,
They kill thousands in equal measure,
Legal or illegal we are the mugs,
Our bad habits are another's treasure.

I'm not advocating you live like a saint,
Survival is about respect and some fear,
With the aforementioned drugs if you show some constraint,
