The Lord is my light,
And my salvation;
My fortress and might,
Solid foundation.
Who is there to fear?
Should I be afraid?
For the Lord is near,
To render me aid.
Evil closing in,
To tear me apart;
Determined to win,
And corrupt my heart.
My foes set up camp,
Waiting to attack;
God makes me the champ,
Strengthens where I lack.
Although war breaks out,
I have confidence;
Because of no doubt,
Having good defense.
I shall always seek,
A safe place to stay;
As lowly and meek,
Where I cannot stray.
In Him I abide,
All days of my life;
In Him I will hide,
Avoiding the strife.
Up high on a rock,
I can see so much;
And where we can talk,
As I feel His touch.
I make song and sing,
That my foe will hear;
Letting the praise ring,
For I do not fear.
