Sacrifices and offerings,
From sin for making you a slave;
Sin as caused by your wanderings,
And preparing you for the grave.
You did not condone them at all,
But temptations and desires;
That had been causing you to fall,
Just kept you lighting the fires.
For this is what Moses had taught,
Requiring people to offer;
To sacrifice whenever sought,
Or if they become a scoffer.
Christ came to do your desire,
Sacrifices have gone away;
For respect to acquire,
And no longer to go astray.
Because we have been set apart,
As holy because Jesus Christ;
Has purified cleansing the heart,
At the time He was sacrificed.
By sacrificing His body,
Had settled it once and for all;
Nothing glamorous or gaudy,
Just to protect us when we fall.
This chief priest sacrificed for sin,
Not just for once but forever;
No longer for each time within,
Rather once that will not sever.
Since that time He has been waiting,
For His foe be made a footstool;
As He has been contemplating,
How Satan has been such a fool.
