The Drive To Forgiveness

Fingers point in her direction…
Her Christian witness is at stake.
Oh, my God, will you uphold her,
How much more can her heart take?
.
Accusations... rumors flying
Tongues cut deeper than a knife!
Questioning her love for Jesus
When she has served Him half her life.

Insults... hate is hurling toward her...
Angry words ...defaming jeers!
Forcing her faith to a showdown
Is now reducing her to tears.

Driving fast as thoughts run rapport...
She cannot think of words to pray.
No one shows the least compassion...
O, how she longs to drive away.

When she is at her very lowest...
Broken by the ones she loves...
Then she feels His loving Presence...
Peace desends like wings of doves.

His Words materialize within her...
Their healing flow binds every hurt.
Had he not suffered in like manner?
His Holy Name dragged through the dirt?

She grips the wheel in understanding...
Yes, she forgives them...it is done!
A smile is swimming to the surface...
Her wounded spirit knows Someone

Who can relate to all she's feeling...
Forgiveness is the road to heal.
She hears His order to pull over,
"Brake now, my child, I'll take the wheel."

~~Author's Note~~
A wounded spirit and brokenness are sometimes
caused by those we love... these hurts usually
lead to saying things about us that are untrue...and
these untruths leave us devastated even more.
The Psalmist in Psalm 69 says it very well
...

Ps 69:16-20
Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good:

turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender
mercies.
And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble:

hear me speedily.
Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me

of mine enemies.
Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and

dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness:

and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and
for comforters, but I found none. (KJV)

Prov 15:13
A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance:

but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. (KJV)

Ps 147:3
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth

up their wounds. (KJV)
