How can a young person keep pure,
When Satan fishes with a lure;
Temptation always looks for ways,
So someone is enticed and strays.
He does it by holding the Word,
Remembering what he has heard;
Using blinders as not to view,
Blocking all that would be not true.
I wholeheartedly searched for God,
Because of knowing I was flawed;
No longer did I want to stray,
On the wrong path wander away.
I prize His promise in my heart,
Not wanting ever to depart;
So I may never sin again,
As in the past that has been.
Thanks be to God to teach the Laws,
To curtail me any more flaws;
So with my lips I will repeat,
Make it a song dance with my feet.
Every ordinance I hear,
Comes from His mouth when He is near;
Joy enters the ears to my heart,
As my mind begins to impart.
I find joy in the instructions,
To distract me from seductions;
More than I find joy in treasures,
Or of any earthly pleasures.
I will reflect and meditate,
Follow them and not hesitate;
I am happy to study ways,
For following Him all my days.
