Put to death worldly things,
Of passion, greed and lust;
Forget pleasure it brings,
Only to Heaven trust.
Think of spiritual health,
As you trust and obey;
Not of earthly wealth,
Tempting every day.
God made you His elect,
His anger comes on those;
Who decide to reject,
On the ones that He chose.
You lived the sinful life,
With cursing and temper;
Suffering through all the strife,
Produced by the Tempter.
But now a new creature,
Someone chosen by God;
With a Christ-like feature,
As you honor and laud.
As a holy person,
Remain humble and kind;
The same as Christ has done,
Having a peaceful mind.
Be patient and gentle,
Remember to forgive;
Being influential,
How some others may live.
So may the peace of Christ,
Also rule in your heart;
And never be enticed,
Causing it to depart.
