Dedicated to my beautiful, loving mother Jean...whose hands will always be in my heart...I love you Mom!
Eyes closed,
I see her hands
enfolding mine,
scrubbing floors,
holding a pencil,
scratching answers
into the white blocks
of the daily crossword…
Never still,
hands always busy
baking holiday goodies,
brushing our hair,
washing windows
with vinegar water
and newspaper
until they shone…
Always soft,
her hands were comfort
when wiping our tears,
folding our laundry,
smoothing on Jergen's
then taking our hands
in hers to share the
scent of love…
Forever young,
no matter the passing time,
ageless in their beauty,
gentle in providing care,
covering my father in his sleep,
she's always the one to help
whatever the need,
her hands reach out…
Momma's hands
will always be in memory,
teaching me life skills,
holding my children,
turning the pages
of the wonderful book
called nurture, I see her
in my own hands…
