America the dream

Fickle leaves fall and lay
Through seasons of ones' life
She's a lady, He's a friend
Not one to cause you strife
Freckle faced toothless grin
A fly away balloon
Sharp sunrays fill the day
And she's grown much too soon
A boy runs barefoot through the park
Through flower scent filled air
Tomorrow may just find him as
A homeless man who stares
These are all marmalades
Like color bursts of sun
Yesterdays of shining smiles
And honey bees that stung
Yesterdays' call again
Like vines pressed lovingly
It's the best of this world
Love given blessedly
It's the best found in life
Love of many means
It's the most painful time
America the dream
