Devotion
Until you love me more
Than stars and stripes
Until you love me more
Than patriotic themes, schemes, flags,
Drums, wars, and revelries
Until you love me more
Than haunted dreams, screams
Nightmares and memories
By your side
Breathing, calling, beckoning,
Sustaining and giving life
Undesperately devoted
Passionate wife
Stoking fires, lighting candles, dancing rhythms
Evenings brush of soft moonlight
Sacred space, intimately entwined
with prayers of grace
Where bodies blend
Aromas envelope and descend
Kindling of heaven again
Until you love me more
Than vengeance, justice and the world between us
Until you love me more
Than cars, house, money, trappings
Until you love me more
Than shows, movies, sports, distractions
Your meadow dancing
Horse back riding
Garden planting
Fruitful bride
Soothing hands
Love's eternal glance
Wisdom's healing
Lover's guide
into simple lands
Giving, unrelenting, ever restoring
Bearer of the breech
Until all in all
Whole is complete
Repairer in the wake
Ashes scattered
Past blown in winds of nothingness
Handcuff, lock, bind
Soul to soul
Into perpetual marital bliss
Until you love me more
Than all of this ~ ~ ~
