I cannot explain You away  with words

you ask
why do I not write
something about you

I could
yet

so many words pass between us
between our many days
sometimes its hard to think

I'd like to keep you
simpler to me
though you are, often,
a complex equation

but,
I can not,
maybe, should not
explain you  away
with words
they do not seem
enough

they are too small
and fraught with
definitions
interpretations
and sometimes
deliberately
mislead

hold my hand
I'll hold yours

at night
I listen for your snore
and then I whisper to you
our poems

I touch and
reassure you with
my hand

it is said that
the unconscious hear
better

I think you listen
even
when
I am not
using
words.
