Drowsing in The Early Morning  Rain

lounging
in the Eames chair
together watching the sunrise
we wax eloquent

we're washed among
the amber lynxian
hues
the cat and I
barely stir
sit comfortable
in mutual company

in between the eyelids
of the shades
the warm light reaches in
before the rain

outside the song of a bird
optimistic
rises in the damp morning air

beside me
the corners of the cat's chin
are transformed into
a pleasured grin

if only we could sit
so pensively unspoiled
all day
uninterrupted

intruding the silence
the rumble of thunder
impedes

with a gusting wind
begins an insistence
of cooling rain

in the Eames in unison
our eyes re-close
toes kneading the
encircling blankets

doubled
we turn together
and head
as one
back
to the
waiting
bed.
