I Banish Memory
you are a habit
that grounds and soothes
you are
a habit
you are a habit
that hounds and destroys
you are
a habit
not human but you have
a life
a lie
you are a flame within
you prick
like a pin
and sicken
as sin
memory
memory
take back your teeth
memory
curb your sweet
memory
lessen your pull
lest I be pulled away
once you start in
I forget who I am
and where I begin
you take over
like a tyrant
make your essence giant
memory
go away
I banish you
but you speak
not so silently
will I listen
blindly
you hiss:
"only for this moment."
