As a boy beaten down by poverty
Often beaten by my Father
I had few dreams of the future
Poorly dressed sports was my outlet
One day trying to prove I was worthy
That I cared for others
I could walk the mile from school
I volunteered to be a bus monitor
I would see the kids got down the steps safely
Flag down cars at the crossings
OK, it was to impress the girl of my dreams
That it did not work, "Dandy you are the last boy--!"
But I did impress one person the bus driver
One day the bus driver said to me,
"The Globetrotters are in town I have and extra ticket!"
Next the local high school were in State
I knew what I was going to be when I grew up
Whatever, life sometimes passes you by
But the dreams are not dead
One granddaughter finished fourth in State
Grandson was State Champion in Hockey
And now the final four--win or lose
Grandpa well be there to see another State Championship
Go Falcons!
