When Christ went to the lowest place,
He captured those who made us slaves;
And now Jesus has shed His grace,
Which is freeing us from the graves.
What does it mean when Christ went up?
When Jesus also had gone down;
Was it from a sip of the cup?
While wearing the thorny crown.
For the one who had gone below,
Went up above into Heaven;
To the Father He had to go,
For the throne that He was given.
For He gave everyone gifts,
To the apostles and prophets;
The missionaries that uplift,
To the pastors and the poets.
Jesus gave pastors to the church,
Provide service to the people;
To teach and biblical research,
Spreading the news of the Gospel.
They are to serve and to prepare,
To build up the body of Christ;
Able to preach as well as share,
His support and time sacrificed.
To continue till all unite,
In faith and knowledge of the Son;
Stop sinning and do what is right,
Until maturity is done.
Until we measure up to Christ,
And have reached up to His standard;
Till we are no longer enticed,
As men no longer philandered.
No longer are being uncouth,
And thinking of Christ as the head;
As we lovingly speak the truth.
And think only of love instead.
