My Summer Song

To Melody my lovely grandchild on her 30th birthday. How time has flown my baby, you really are a woman now. Have a wonderful day, Happy birthday love always Nannie xxx

Each time I hear your name
I hear a golden song
Way back in that summer
Where we waited oh so long

But at last there was a tinkle
Of fairy harps in tune
And all of them were singing
As you came in the room

Mum gave a great big happy sigh
Your Dad was happy too
As for me, I left the room
To cry a tear or two.

They named you Melanie my dear
A lovely name to own
But you have been my Melody
Since the moment you were born

The fairies and the angels
All taught me their sweet song
Oh Melody sweet Melody
You`re home where you belong

Throughout the years I watched you grow
Get babies one by one
Saw your sorrow too my lass
But also saw your fun

You turned into a beauty
And oh so clever too
And now you have reached thirty
Whatever you may do

Remember you are still so young
The future full and free
Do everything you want my dear
Live well on life`s long tree

This is a very special day
Make all your dreams come true
I wish for you the golden song
Of joy in all you do

Remember fairies are still real
Whatever is your age
And angels will watch over you
As you turn this years page

Melody, my summer song
My shining little star
Happy birthday little lass
Oh yes, to me, you are.
