Stud Poker

I won a woman in a poker game

Straight up and down

I won a woman in a poker game

In a little German town

Her husband was miner

With muscles in his spit

But he couldn't play poker

One little bit,

Didn't seem to understand

The value of each hand

Or how to bluff

If the going got rough.

His wife was petite

A blonde German honey

Who sat patiently watching

As I won all his money,

Until he said

Let's play for the lot

My wife Helga

Against your winnings pot.

He dealt an open hand

As a crowd gathered round

The snap of each card and his

Breathing were the only sounds

As He lost,

Realised the cost,

Showed his grief,

Then his relief

As I said a game’s just a game

And we split the pot

And I kissed her hand,

The only reward i got

And we repaired to the bar

And i made that joker

Promise he would never

Ever again play stud poker.

I won a woman in a poker game

Straight up and down

I won a woman in a poker game

In a little German town.
