ramblings and things

Freedom hard earned

But were any lessons learned

From that huge cost

Of those millions of lives carelessly lost.

One hundred years on

In a more enlightened age

New leaders still

Strut the world stage

Screaming for

Their version of right

Knowing full well

They wont personally have to fight

And religious fanatics

Burn and pillage and kill

In the cause of imposing

Their benevolent god's will

And millions starve

In a world of plenty

And the whole world seems

To thrive on hate and enmity

While

The profit motive rules

And business

Regards the rest as tools

Whether through ignorance

Or by just blind choice

There seem no liking for

Reason's lonely voice.

Freedom hard earned

But it seems few lessons learned

From that huge cost

Of those millions of lives carelessly lost.
