It is better to bite dry bread,
While able to eat in peace;
Than a family feast instead,
Where hostilities will not cease.
A wise slave will become master,
Over a son who is in shame;
For sharing is no disaster,
With his brothers he will proclaim.
A furnace is for smelting gold,
Silver is refined in a pot;
But purified hearts I am told,
By fire that the Lord has got.
Evildoers pay attention,
Only what wicked lips have flung;
A liar hears the intention;
Only through the slanderous tongue.
Whoever makes fun of the poor,
Also insults his creator;
Those who enjoy loss during war,
Is judged by his evaluator.
Children are the crown of parents,
Parents are the glory of kids;
They are family not tenants,
But forgiven if God forbids.
A refined speech is not suiting,
For one that is a godless fool;
Much less do lying lips routing,
For following a golden rule.
A bribe would seem like a jewel,
To a person who would give it;
But it would just be for a fool,
If it is not for their merit.
Whoever forgives does seek love,
But whoever keeps bringing up;
Blocks the flow coming from above,
And drinking poison in his cup.
