Welcome to My life in the shadows

BEYOND EMPTINESS

Sometimes and with great effort
as we reach to remove
the tattered fragments of our lives
wishing to do away with
all the shattered little pieces
we have come to mistrust
thinking we will never miss
those puffy sweet pomegranate lips
that once haunted us so
under desert sunshine.
Yet, bit-by-bit
and piece by piece
those little pink pricks of sunshine
we once thought we would never miss
become born again
and one by one
they stick and poke
their thin little thorns
through the fabric
of our dreams
until it seems
from yesterday
there is no escape.
