Welcome to My life in the shadows

POOR RICHARD

Poor Richard said
That the lowly poem
Is but a vehicle
And the tenor voice
Something inside the poet well
Perhaps it is something
He is not able to say
Or tell
Directly- -
Consider the flowers,
If they were only roses
Would they be pretty pink,
Like my mother
Or their boughs strong and thorny,
Like my father- -
And if they were love, hot
Would you think
God would send them a shower
To rest their blazen thirst?
And when autumn winds bring cold
The somber weather,
Eurging in winter’s snow
Would I grow
As to prick the clouds
Fiery red that come
And bring for them
The warming sun?

In answer to another poem
