The Pace By EDWIN FLORES, www.PoetryPoem.com/poetry2231 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
The means to strive ahead near empty
Meager the fuel that once was plenty
It seems as though the road ahead
Has forked again with path misled
Eyes now seek the course to stay
Heart beguiled again dismayed
Yet something seems to keep its fire
A weary soul now raised, desires
Its need to breathe of strength not tired
Battles fought have left their marks
Scars it wears of life that sparks
Another day, to be again
To lend an ear, to write and mend
Keeping pace this foot race drains
Its point of view with drills of pain
The aftermath of much sustained
Heals again with ground regained
You speak softly yourself to sleep
For there is where treasure you keep
To make it through another day
Dig deep you will, finding the fare to pay
The Pace
