TEN
Yesterday…yesterday,
Oh! How I miss yesterday!
Can you remember when you
were young again?
Long , long ago, when life was simple
and your cheeks were rosey pink.
Few worries or frets, for Mama
took care of all that went amiss.
Laughter and play took up most
of your warm summer days.
Wishes and dreamy delights
filled your golden nights.
Running barefoot through fields
of clover with your pup named Rover.
Playing cowboys, Indians, and riding
bicycles with cardboard flaps in the spokes.
All-day suckers, chocoate ice cream,
bubble gum and licorice sticks too.
Going to the movies for a nickel and club card
to see King Cong or Tom Mix, as you ride along.
Don’t you remember…sure you do!
Those were the days that we thought
would never end, after all…
we were ony ten!
