Transferring schools in Senior year
I was a road scholar
I played pickup baseball on the road
For me school was a social thing
After all that was where the girls went
and the cute ones wore short skirts
I filled my sheet with classes no study halls
Chemistry, I was reading Micky Spillane
I knew or copied just enough to get a "D"
With my black horned rimmed glasses
The teachers though me a nerd trying
The cute girls with shorts skirts, a nerd
Israel to hold Gaza for the time being
In reality I was a Sophomore Senior
Classes already started i had to take what was left
Art Appreciation, Speech Arts, typing Bonehead English
The good news I lacked three credits to graduate
I picked my grade point up to 1.87 taught bonehead English
1957 I went to work at Boeing Aircraft
I worked in experimental plastics on the 727
I had no idea what I was doing it was experimental
One day we painted all our lunchboxes
Management was a little unhappy the paint was $1000 a gallon
I was transfer ed to sealing wing tips
I did that job real well until I was told I was supposed
to be using something called a blueprint and actually measure
It was time to find a new career
Atomic missiles guard us Cities
I always wanted to be a Marine so I joined the Air Force
OK, they told me I was too tall to be in Submarines

Despite having dreams of seeing blood I was made a medic
A dog name Laika makes space history
If a dog could fly so could I
One time I second piloted in a two seat er trainer jet
Nod bad for a boy who later learned he suffers from vertigo
Fighting continues along Algerian border
At Great Lakes Naval base I was put in the well not survive ward
You ask what are you doing at a naval base?
Can't you read I am dying of the Asian flu
We well straighten this out when we get to 1958
And how I became an Airman taking Marine training in the Navy
