                 Hopfully, They will Say…

Oh! Yeah, I knew old Jack, he and I go way back.
He loved his wife and kids, and friends were many,
leaving his enemies full of envy.

He loved to make jokes and act silly at times.
He played baseball, boxed, bowled and spent
too many hours on slot machine dimes and
wasn’t bad at scrabble at times.

He served his country at a time, when many
others refused to.  He was forever honored
for he had marched with heroes too.
He wrote paperbacks and penned rhymes
that he called poetry. He sculpted, painted
and wrote song lyrics too.

Hopefully they will say…
He was just old Jack and that’s
how he’d want to be remembered!
So, give him a big salute and say:
Au revoir, for his ticket has been
punched and his train is on the track.
So you see…Old Jack won’t be
coming back!
